Jazz Fest is upon us and in addition to the great music and awesome food, you can also pick up some pretty unique items, including something that can add a bit of flash to your man’s wardrobe made from bird feathers.

From pheasants to peacocks, turkeys to roosters and everything in between, the Brackish booth near the Gospel Tent at Jazz Fest has handcrafted a unique way to give you some flash the next time you dress up. Bow ties and lapels adorn the tables and walls and each and every one is handcrafted from bird feathers.

Each one of the colorful ties takes four to seven hours to handcraft and up to an hour each for the lapels. In that hour, a handful of feathers, a bit of string and a pin create that magical accent. But why New Orleans and why Jazz Fest to show off these feathered fittings? Turns out our city’s reputation for fun and flair had a lot to do with it.

“It’s so unique and unusual and in a lot of ways we feel that it really mirrors the energy of New Orleans,” says Whitney Sternbergh while helping to set up and prep their spot on the fair grounds.

On the fence about adding a bit of plumage to your wardrobe? Well, you can always start with something small and personal that’s just for you, especially if you’re a Saints fan. Brackish brought two custom items to New Orleans just for us: A custom fleur-de-lis lapel pin and also a card case for you guys who like to keep your wallet slim. Made from handcrafted leather with a feather accent, the card case comes in black or gold for your game day needs.

If you’re interested in checking out these feathered bow ties, pins and even cummerbunds, head on over to the Brackish booth near the Gospel Tent. You’re sure to find something that fits your style you won’t see anywhere else.
