Actress and author Tembi Locke will deliver the keynote address at the fourth annual Embrace Aging Forum, scheduled for Aug. 20 at the DoubleTree Hotel in downtown Chattanooga.
Locke, author of the New York Times best-selling book From Scratch, has enjoyed a storied acting career on shows from “The Fresh Prince of Bel Air” to “NCIS:LA.”
At the Chattanooga forum, she will share her personal experiences as a caregiver and the importance of creating a community.
Locke’s memoir published last year, which is being adopted by Reese Witherspoon into an upcoming Netflix series, tells the story of caring for her Sicilian husband when he was battling cancer and ultimately died.
“My journey caring for my late husband taught me the depth of the human experience,” she said. “I am proud to honor his memory and our journey together by advocating for the needs of caregivers who are experiencing life’s unexpected twists and turns.”
The Embrace Aging program, sponsored by the Chattanooga law firm of Chambliss Bahner & Stophel, P.C., is designed to connect seniors and their families to community resources and progressive perspectives on all areas of life, including health and wellness, family relationships, housing and care, finances and legal planning.
“We want our community to not only know, but embrace the many opportunities for life after retirement,” said Dana Perry, a certified elder law attorney at Chambliss. “The Embrace Aging Forum offers a fantastic opportunity to connect with some of the top resources and leaders in the aging field.”
Sponsorship opportunities are available to regional businesses and organizations. Tickets to the event will be available in the coming weeks.
